I can remember working at WLYC when it was on the second floor of the Carone building in downtown Williamsport around 1972. I recall looking at an empty studio while everyone was talking about this new way to listen to radio that will revolutionize the business. They were putting an FM station on-line. They were going to call it WILQ. I was privileged to do weekends playing country music when the longest songs were barely over 2 minutes.

I left WILQ to work at WMPT for several years where we relished our role as the ‘Rebels of Radio.’ I loved working for Dave Castlebury, Kelly Watts and Bob Evans. Later, I was hired to do the rock show at nights on WILQ from 7 to midnight.

I left radio for a time and bought a tavern in Eagles Mere which I operated for 13 years. I also served as a County Commissioner from 1986 to 1994 in Sullivan County. Somehow, I ended up back in Montoursville, married the love of my life and returned to WILQ where I did the Afternoon Drive for several years.

From there, I left to work at Clear Channel and iHeart to become the on-air Production Director for several more years. I ultimately got canned there, or as the saying goes, ‘I’d been riffed.’

But life works in mysterious ways…

Local radio legend Ted Minier reached out and put me back to work part-time at WILQ. Recently, the opportunity arose to do mid-days on the Q, as well as the position of Production Director for all of Backyard Broadcasting. It is my honor to say that it is now in my humble hands. Everything has come full circle.

I’m looking forward to being a part of your life and celebrating great times and great music with you in the years to come.
