SUSPECT IN CUSTODY OVER 2023 MURDER CASE
Police have named the suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Kevin Cagle in October of 2023. According to the Sun Gazette, police say a roommate of 52 year old Davere Andre McClain of Williamsport was told Cagle was a “rat”, before he was shot and stabbed then dragged to the basement where his body was dismembered. Cagle and his belongings were then discarded along Interstate 80 in East Chillisquaque Township in Northumberland County. McClain was recently taken into custody on a probation violation and a police investigation uncovered that McClain was a suspect in the case. He has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated and simple assault, abuse of corpse, false imprisonment and more. He is in Lycoming County prison on no bail.
DEALER IN CUSTODY AFTER SELLING FATAL DOSE TO CITY WOMAN
The man who police say sold crack cocaine to a woman in Williamsport who died after using it last October, will face homicide charges in Lycoming County Court. According to North Central PA dot com, criminal homicide charges were held for court against 60 year old Keith Richard Reitz of Williamsport who witnesses say left 50 year old Nicole Bassett’s home at the 1400 block of Alvin Avenue prior to her overdose. Reitz’s charges include criminal homicide, drug delivery resulting in death, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and criminal use of a communication facility. He has a May 5th formal arraignment.
SPOTTED LANTERN FLY QUARANTINES IN MORE PA COUNTIES
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has announced the quarantine of Bradford, Sullivan, Venango, and Wyoming Counties in the fight against the invasive spotted lantern fly. The lanternfly quarantine prohibits moving lanternflies at any stage of life, as well as infested items like firewood, brush, and other debris and requires those who operate businesses or travel for business in and out of quarantined counties to get a permit. Residents are asked to destroy egg masses this spring in an effort to curb the population that can aggressively harm agriculture in the state. FATHER WHO SHOT SON AND SON’S GIRLFRIEND CHARGED
A Loyalsock Township man was in court this week facing assault charges for a domestic disturbance and shooting that occurred in Williamsport last November. According to the Sun Gazette, police say 45 year old Andrew Anthony Dixon shot toward his 18 year old son during an altercation at the home, the bullet of which also wounded the son’s 18 year old girlfriend, who allegedly was trying to deescalate the scenario. According to reports, the argument started over food in the refrigerator. Dixon was arraigned in Lycoming County court and was released on 50 thousand dollars bail. No other charges have been filed in the case at this time.
OUTSTANDING WARRANTS TO BE SERVED IN NORTHUMBERLAND
Authorities in Northumberland Borough have announced they will apprehend individuals with outstanding criminal warrants and unpaid parking tickets later this month. According to the Daily Item, Dan Berard the mayor of Northumberland said those with warrants or tickets can contact the Northumberland Police department or Constable Sam Spigelmeyer at 570-478-1026. You can also go to the District Court located at 399 Stadium Drive in Sunbury to arrange a resolution to the filings before officers head out to find April 24th and 25th. Warrants that are outstanding are listed on the Northumberland Police Department app.
ADDITIONAL PENSION AVAILABLE FOR DISABLED VETERANS
Pennsylvania Veterans with a service-connected disability of 40 percent or higher in each of two or more limbs and received an honorable or under honorable discharge could qualify for a monthly pension of $150. According to the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs they announced the program in recognition of National Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month. FAMOUS COLLEGE CHOIR COMING TO BLOOMSBURG
The world renowned Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University will perform this May at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bloomsburg. According to North Central PA dot com, the free performance (for an optional 10 dollar donation) is set for Sunday, May 18, at 3pm at 101 East Main Street in Bloomsburg and will bring the choir back to the area for the first time in more than five years.
