CHARGES FOR MAN WHO HID COCAINE IN POLICE CRUISER DURING ARREST
A convicted drug dealer who was taken into custody March 5th and imprisoned for new drug charges, is facing increased drug charges after narcotics detectives discovered he allegedly concealed bags of crack cocaine within the seats of the police cruiser at the time of his arrest. According to the Sun Gazette, Rasheed Bond had been arraigned on the original charges two of which were dismissed for lack of evidence, but upon a second arraignment he now faces felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and one misdemeanor charge of tampering with evidence. Bond is in Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $85,000 bail
WOMAN CHARGED FOR THREATENING LYCO CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Police say a local woman threatened a caseworker this week at the Lycoming County Children and Youth Services Office after her child was placed in protective custody. According to WNEP, 32 year old Kimberly Ann McCray sent multiple threatening texts and made phone calls in which she stated she would get a gun and shoot up the building. Police said the building was placed in a lock down, which forced the Lycoming County Sherriff to secure a perimeter around the building out of an abundance of caution. McCray was charged with threats and other improper influence in official or political matters, terroristic threats, recklessly endangerment, and disorderly conduct. She was arraigned and jailed at the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
ALUMINUM MANUFACTURER BUYS LAND IN LYCOMING COUNTY
The sale of approximately 200 acres of county-owned land in Brady Township to Chance Aluminum Corp was announced this week by Lycoming County Commissioner Scott Metzger. According to the Sun Gazette, the sale for 2.5 million dollars proposes to bring in a first of its kind manufacturing facility to produce aluminum foil in the United States; which at this time we import approximately 90 percent. Metzger said the plant could bring about 300 to 400 new jobs and will help to reduce the dependence on foreign imports, as well as produce specialized foils for the growing EV battery and advanced packaging sectors.

WOMAN FACES CHARGES FOR CHILD ABUSE
A woman from Selinsgrove is facing charges after a mandated reporter came forward about child abuse they observed. According to the Daily Item, the 9 year old victim told police that 27-year-old Ali E. Leach struck her with her hand or with wooden spatulas so hard the implement would break, if she forgot homework or to care for the family pet. The girl was also told to lie about a black eye she had received from a spatula hit to the face. Leach was charged with felony child endangerment, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment, and is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
ARREST FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AGAINST 11 YEAR OLD
A 47 year old Selinsgrove man is facing felony corruption of minors charges and more for alleged sexual assault crimes committed between June of 2024 and January of this year. According to State police at Selinsgrove, they received a report about Jason Kepner accused of indecent contact between an adult and an 11 year old. No other details are available about the case, but Kepner is jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
MONTGOMERY SCHOOL BOARD ACTION
The Montgomery School Board has voted on a new football coach, appointed a new board member and accepted the retirement resignation of Daphne Bowers Montgomery’s superintendent who has served since July 2004. According to North Central PA dot com the board meeting was tense over calls to rehire Cory Tice, Montgomery’s former head varsity football coach, but in the end, Joel Knoebel, a former junior high football coach for Southern Columbia was voted into the position 5 to 2. Edward Shrimp, who became an official board member this week, abstained from that vote. The board also accepted the retirement resignations of both of the district’s police officers, Officer Joseph Akers and Officer William Weber, which will be effective June 6th.
TV AND TIRE RECYCLING EVENT IN SUNBURY SATURDAY
There will be a TV and tire recycling event in Sunbury this Saturday from 10 til noon. According to city officials the event is being held to assist the family of a city employee whose home suffered damages after a fire. Participants can bring items to 128 Memorial Drive, next to John O. Long Field, but must register by calling 570-286-7820 and use option 4. Car and truck tires cost 5 dollars each with 1 dollar per pound for TVs, of which only 100 will be accepted. Residents and non-residents are welcome to donate with payments accepted by cash or check only.
